A Black Newfoundland Puppy Climbed Into the Jack-O'-Lantern
A tiny black Newfoundland puppy sits inside a big carved jack-o'-lantern with just his head showing through the open top. His eyes are round and gentle, his fluffy fur is dark as coal, and the toothy grin of the pumpkin glows beneath him. A cardboard box, a jacket, and a mat on the porch suggest a busy Halloween day. The pumpkin's triangle eyes and zigzag smile frame his little face, and the porch boards are warm in the late-day sun.
Newfoundlands are large, gentle dogs known for their sweet temperament and love of water. They have thick double coats and need regular brushing, especially when they shed. Puppies grow quickly, so a balanced diet and sensible exercise help support healthy growth, and early training helps keep a future giant polite.
A real carved pumpkin is not a safe seat for long, since the walls can crack and the inside gets damp. Candles inside would be a serious fire risk, so use a battery light and keep puppies away from flames. Any carving tools and scraps should also be kept out of paw's reach.
We can call him Midnight. He fits in the pumpkin like a very small, very fluffy filling, and he seems quite pleased with his new home. The pumpkin has never had such a sweet guest, and Midnight clearly feels that this is where he belongs.
