A Bernese Puppy Grabbed the Candy Bag and Paraded Around the Room
Held proudly in his mouth is a big twist-tied bag of Halloween candy in orange and gold wrappers, and the tricolor Bernese puppy carrying it looks very pleased with himself. His black fur, white chest, and rusty cheeks shine in the lamplight, and his bright eyes look straight at you. Behind him, a couch with an orange blanket and a small table fill a cozy living room.
Bernese Mountain Dogs are gentle, loyal, and eager to please, yet puppies still explore with their mouths, so anything that smells interesting can end up between their teeth. This is a normal part of growing up, and the best answer is to offer plenty of safe chew toys and to teach a cheerful trade command, where he drops one item in exchange for a treat.
Halloween candy is a real hazard. Chocolate is toxic to dogs, sugar-free sweets may contain xylitol, and wrappers can cause blockages. Keep candy in a closed container up high, and if a puppy swallows any, call your vet or a pet poison hotline right away instead of waiting to see what happens.
For the moment he is simply the proudest little delivery dog around, and the grin on his face says the treasure was worth every step. There is not a trace of guilt here, only a puppy who found something shiny and decided it was his.
