Powder Got a Lift Up to Help With the Star on the Tree
Held gently in a pair of steady hands, the white Samoyed puppy rises toward the top of the Christmas tree with his paws dangling and his nose pointed up. A wooden star glows on the tree beside him, and tiny lights twinkle among the red ornaments and pinecones. Behind them, a warm living room with a sofa, a green blanket, and a scatter of toys shows the happy chaos of a family decorating together.
Samoyed puppies are cloud-like balls of white fluff, and they are famously friendly. Their thick double coat can make them look bigger than they are, so it's important to support their whole body when you pick one up. Place one hand under the chest and the other under the hindquarters so he feels secure. Many puppies don't like being held high, so keep lifts short and gentle, and put him down if he squirms.
Samoyeds are social and love being part of family activities, which makes tree decorating a perfect event. Keep an eye on ornaments and wires at puppy level, and remember that a wagging tail can knock things off low branches. A puppy who feels included is less likely to cause trouble, so give him a spot nearby with a chew toy.
We'll call him Powder. He's the best ornament on the whole tree, and he has the fluffiest feet to prove it.
