Vanilla Sat at the Frosty Window and Studied Every Snowflake
Perched on a worn windowsill, the cream Devon Rex kitten gazes at the frost that has spread across the glass in feathery patterns. A wreath of pine, pinecones, and eucalyptus hangs on the window with a tan ribbon. The kitten's enormous ears stand straight up, and her large amber eyes follow something in the frozen yard. A mug, a plant, and a pile of folded blankets crowd the shelf behind her.
Cats are natural window watchers, and a windowsill perch is among the best forms of enrichment for an indoor kitten. Birds, snow, and moving leaves offer entertainment, and the warmth of the glass in sunshine is a bonus. Make sure the window is closed and secure, and keep an eye out for cold drafts. A soft blanket or a padded cat shelf makes the spot more comfortable on chilly days.
Devon Rex cats are known for their curly coat, large ears, and mischievous, people-loving personality. They're active and love to climb, so a kitten like this may spend as much time on top of the bookshelf as on the floor. Their thin coat means they can feel the cold, and they often seek heat. Talk to your vet about ear care and nutrition for this unusual breed.
We'll call her Vanilla. She's studying the frost like a tiny scientist, and she hasn't decided whether it's edible.
