A Fluffy White Kitten Wears Antlers on the Snowy Porch
A fluffy white kitten sits on the boards of a snowy porch, wearing a set of reindeer antlers with a few red berries woven into the headband. She wears a slightly wary but gentle look, with blue-gray eyes and soft pink ears. A flannel jacket hangs on a green bucket behind her, a basket and a pile of pinecones sit nearby, and a frosty dark door is just behind her.
This is a Norwegian Forest Cat kitten, a breed with a thick double coat that sheds water and snow. Their ancestors lived in cold climates, and they are strong, sturdy cats that generally like to climb. Even so, a kitten should not be left outdoors in winter weather, as little ones chill quickly. A short visit to a porch with a person nearby is plenty.
Antlers and other headwear are fun for a quick photo, but not every cat will sit still for them. If your cat tolerates it, take it off after a minute or two and reward calm behavior with a little treat or play. Make sure the band is loose enough that it does not rub or restrict breathing, and never leave an outfit on when no one is watching.
We will call her Comet, and she has the antlers on with total grace. Her costume might feel a little silly to her, but she is carrying it well. Somewhere in the cold air, a team of reindeer might be impressed, or at least a little jealous of her fur.
