A Maine Coon Kitten Waits for Her Big Sled Ride

AI imagemaine coonsledsnowy day

The wooden sled is a little rickety, the snow is only a thin layer, and the kitten sitting in it is already looking at the horizon. A brown tabby Maine Coon kitten sits upright with big tufted ears and wide, serious eyes, as if she were a tiny sled captain waiting for the signal. A house with a lit window sits behind her, and a dusting of snow covers the lawn.

Maine Coons are one of the largest domestic cat breeds, and they are known for a friendly, easygoing manner. Their large ears often have tufts of fur, and their tails are full and bushy. They grow slowly, often not reaching full size for a few years, so this little one has plenty of growing ahead of her. Their thick coats need regular brushing, especially as they get older.

A sled ride for a kitten is best left as a photo pose. Moving fast on cold snow is not good for a small cat, and kittens can easily slip away or get chilled. If you take a kitten outdoors, keep her close, dry her off and warm her up afterward. Many cats are happier looking out at the snow through a window.

We will call her Sled Dog, which is a bit funny for a cat. She is not going anywhere, but she looks ready for a great trip. The only dash planned is the one back inside to a warm blanket and a bowl of food, which is exactly the right plan.
