Pierre Took His Seat at the Kids' Table. The Adults Noticed Later.
There is a blue kids' table in the corner of the kitchen, set with paper plates, a bowl of cranberries, mashed potatoes and some small pumpkins, and one of the seats is occupied by a black and white French Bulldog named Pierre. He sits tall in a wooden booster chair, his bat ears pricked and his wide eyes looking at someone just out of view. A pile of coats and a stack of folded towels sit in the background.
French Bulldogs are cheerful, sociable dogs who love being part of the crowd, which makes the kids' table an obvious choice. They also have flat faces, which means they can struggle to cool down and tend to snore, snort and tire quickly. A crowded, warm room is not ideal, so give your Frenchie a cool, quiet corner and fresh water. Food from kids' plates often includes sweets and seasonings that dogs should not have, so keep little hands and plates under a watchful eye. If you want to include the dog, a small portion of his own food at a nearby spot is a good compromise.
Pierre seems entirely at home among the little people, and he may well be the best-behaved one at the table. He sits patiently and waits for the signal. Being part of the party matters just as much as the pie.
