The Frenchie Sat Among the Presents and Studied Each One
Bat ears up and head tilted, a brindle French Bulldog sits in a pool of sunlight among a neat pile of wrapped presents. Brown paper packages with red ribbon and twine surround the dog, and above him the tree sparkles with golden ornaments, pinecones, and a star. A cozy chair with a blanket sits in the corner, and the window beyond shows a winter garden. The Frenchie has the serious, slightly worried expression of a dog who has noticed something exciting.
French Bulldogs are affectionate, funny, and sometimes stubborn, and they love being at the center of the action. Their short noses make them sensitive to heat, so keep a sunny spot from becoming too warm, and give water. Christmas trees bring a few risks for dogs: tree water can contain bacteria or additives, ornaments can break and be swallowed, and tinsel and ribbon can cause blockages. Keep decorations out of paw's reach, secure the tree so it can't tip, and consider placing small gifts that smell like food, which are tempting, higher up. Talk to your vet about any concerns.
We might call him Bruno. He sits quietly, but the tail is probably going and the head is full of questions. Which present is his? The sparkling tree, the sunshine, and the stack of packages make for a very good morning for a Frenchie.
