A Grey Kitten With a Lion Mane Ruled the Yard Like a Queen

A round, grey face, huge golden eyes, and a fluffy lion mane make this Exotic Shorthair kitten look like a tiny king of the jungle. She sits on the grass looking slightly upward, and the mane frames her cheeks like a ruff. Behind her, pumpkins dot the yard, a garden hose curls over the lawn, and blue gardening gloves lie near a worn sandal. Fall leaves cover the ground, and the day is bright and dry.

Exotic Shorthairs are quiet, sweet cats with a short, plush coat and a flat face. As kittens, they are curious but often calmer than many other breeds. Because their faces are flat, they can have narrow tear ducts, so you may need to wipe their eyes gently with a soft damp cloth. Cats don't naturally love costumes, so take it slowly. A lion mane can be a good choice because it leaves the body free, but it should fit loosely and never press on the neck. Offer treats, keep the session short, and remove it at the first sign of stress.

We could call her Leona. She looks very impressed with herself, though the mane is a little big. She has the courage of a lion and the size of a teacup. In her yard, she is queen, and the pumpkins are her loyal court.
