An Aussie Puppy Put On an Apron and Took Charge of the Kitchen
Every kitchen needs a head chef, and this one has chosen a black tricolor Australian Shepherd puppy in a tiny tan apron. He sits on the counter, ears folded and eyes watchful, wearing the apron with its string tied neatly. Around him, a golden roasted turkey, a bowl of cranberry sauce, fresh vegetables, and a basket of rolls crowd the countertop, while a pot steams on the stove behind him. A window shows the bare trees outside, and the whole room feels warm and busy.
Australian Shepherds are smart, energetic herding dogs that thrive on activity and training. Puppies of this breed often follow their people closely, and they can get restless without enough exercise or mental challenges like puzzle toys. A busy kitchen on a holiday can be a risky place for a dog, though, with hot pans, sharp tools, and foods like onions, grapes, raisins, and chocolate that are harmful to dogs. A puppy is safest in a spot of his own, with a comfortable bed or crate, while the cooking gets done. Talk to your vet about any questions regarding safe foods.
He looks fully prepared to oversee dinner. The apron may be small, but the confidence in his gaze is enormous. A stirring spoon would be too heavy for his paws, but he would carry it anyway.
