A Golden Retriever Studied the Christmas Tree Like It Was Magic

AI imagegolden retrieverchristmas treeliving room

A golden Retriever sits with his head tilted up and his soft eyes fixed on the lights above him. His coat is glowing in the afternoon sun, his ears fall in silky waves, and his mouth is closed in a calm expression. To the side, a Christmas tree sparkles with lights and gold ornaments next to a bright window, while a couch with blankets and a corner of piled clothes stretch behind him.

Golden Retrievers are among America's most popular family dogs, known for being friendly, patient, and eager to please. They are usually good with children, but they are also energetic and need daily exercise and plenty of company. In a home with a tree, that friendly curiosity needs a few guidelines. Tree water can contain preservatives or bacteria, so cover the base so he cannot drink from it. Pine needles can irritate a dog's stomach if eaten, and tinsel and glass ornaments should stay out of reach. A wagging golden tail can clear a low shelf in one pass, so keep the lower branches free of fragile items.

Goldens are also known for carrying things in their mouths, so he might be tempted to take an ornament for a walk.

At this moment, though, he is simply looking, and it is hard to say who is more impressed, the dog or the tree.
