A Tiny Pumpkin With Enormous Ears Waited on the Doorstep
On a concrete doorstep covered with a few fallen leaves, a gray Devon Rex sits in an orange pumpkin costume with a little green stem on top of the hood. Her large ears poke out on either side, and she looks up with serious eyes at something above the camera. The front door is open behind her, showing a doormat and a few shoes, and a real pumpkin sits at the edge of the steps.
Costumes can be cute, but safety comes first. A cat's costume should be soft, lightweight, and loose enough to let her move, see, breathe, and groom without trouble. Avoid anything with small pieces she could chew off, and never leave a costumed cat unsupervised. Doorsteps on Halloween bring more risk than usual, since trick-or-treaters, open doors, and unfamiliar noise can lead a startled cat to run. Keep her indoors, or use a harness and leash for outdoor photo time, and consider a quiet room for the evening if doorbells upset her. A microchip and ID tag give extra security. Devon Rex cats are often friendly and curious, so many enjoy watching the visitors from a safe window.
Costumes for Devon Rex cats should be soft, since their fine coats are sensitive and they feel the cold.
She looks like a small, serious pumpkin on the lookout for candy.
