A Yellow Lab Puppy Is Being Very Good Beside the Gingerbread House
A creamy yellow Labrador puppy sits beside a kitchen counter, his big soulful eyes locked on a gingerbread house across from him. The little house is decorated with rows of colorful gumdrops, white icing along the roof, and a candy wreath on the door. A few crumbs lie on the wood, and a sprig of pine rests nearby with a pinecone.
The kitchen behind him tells a story of its own: a drying rack with dishes, a mug on the counter, a window glowing with late sunlight, and a Christmas garland across the shelf. We'll call him Butterscotch. He is perfectly well-behaved at the moment, but that gingerbread is a very strong test of character.
Labradors are among the most popular dog breeds in America. They are friendly, eager to please, and famously food-motivated, which makes training easy and keeping snacks safe a little harder. A gingerbread house is not a safe snack for dogs. Icing and candy have a lot of sugar, and some candies and sweeteners are harmful, while spices like nutmeg can also upset a dog's stomach. If your puppy gets a bite, call your vet for advice. Keep treats on high shelves, teach a solid sit and stay, and reward good manners with a dog-friendly treat instead. Labs love to chew, so lots of toys are important, and they need plenty of daily exercise to stay happy and healthy.
Butterscotch sits tall, hopeful, and well-behaved, a model citizen who is just a little curious about the roof.
