Game Night Was Called Off on Account of One Very Large, Very Fluffy Player
Game night has been called off on account of one very large, very fluffy player. A black Newfoundland lies across the wooden floor, its massive body taking up half the frame, while colorful board game pieces are scattered everywhere in front of it: little houses, stars, cards, puzzle tiles, and tokens in red, blue, green, and yellow. The dog's head is turned away and its dark eyes gaze off to the side with a calm, somewhat embarrassed look. Behind it, a coffee table holds a mug, a couch is draped with a knit blanket, and a lamp casts warm evening light.
Newfoundlands are gentle giants, famous for their sweet temperament and patience, especially with children. They were originally working dogs, helping fishermen and assisting with water rescues, and they have webbed feet and a thick, water-resistant coat. Their coat needs regular brushing, and owners should be ready for plenty of drool. Because of their size, a happy tail wag can clear a coffee table in seconds, so it helps to keep breakable or small items up high. Tiny game pieces can also be a choking or swallowing risk, so pick them up promptly.
Odds are this was an accident rather than a plan. When you are this big, the whole world is just a little too small. Still, the game pieces are not the only thing in this room that is impossible to resist.
