The Bookshelf Is Leaning, the Books Are Everywhere, and the Husky Is Very Calm
A wooden bookshelf leans at a sharp angle against the wall, and nearly every book it once held is now spread across the living room floor. Paperbacks lie open face down, stacked in crooked piles, and scattered all the way to the couch. Sitting tall in the very center is a black and white Siberian Husky, one striking blue eye catching the light as he gazes off to the side with the composure of a librarian who has no idea how this happened. His thick tail curls on the floor behind him, and a pair of slippers lies nearby, perhaps the next item on his reading list.
Huskies are famously energetic, vocal, and sometimes mischievous, with a strong independent streak and a talent for escaping yards. Their size and enthusiasm also make household furniture safety important. Tall bookshelves, dressers, and TV stands can tip over if a large dog jumps up or pulls on them, which can injure pets and children. Anchoring tall furniture to the wall with anti-tip straps or brackets is an easy, inexpensive fix that many safety experts recommend for every home. Placing heavier items on lower shelves helps, too. For the Husky himself, long runs, pulling sports, and daily play are the best way to keep that energy in check.
This Husky may have rearranged the library without permission, but he does look awfully well-read. Maybe next time he will choose just one book to borrow.
