The Tulips Were a Gift. The Boston Terrier Unwrapped Them.
Pink and red tulip petals blanket the floor like a rug, and a brindle and white Boston Terrier sits right in the middle with his ears pulled back. His dark eyes glance sideways, an expression somewhere between regret and curiosity. The bouquet seems to have been dismantled from the bottom up, with stems and green leaves scattered around him. Blankets and baskets in the background make the room look calm and lived in.
Boston Terriers are friendly, lively dogs with tuxedo markings and big expressive eyes, sometimes called the American Gentleman. They are social and eager to please, though they can be playful and rather busy when bored. Digging, shredding and chewing flowers is typical dog fun, but plants can be risky, because tulips and some other bulbs are toxic to dogs, especially the bulb itself. If a pup has chewed on tulips or any unknown plant, it is sensible to call your vet and describe how much he ate.
Putting bouquets up high or in a different room is an easy fix. A dog who loves digging might also enjoy a sandbox in the yard filled with toys to find.
He may not be feeling very gentlemanly right now, but he looks undeniably handsome among the petals. The spring bouquet turned out to be quite a short-lived centerpiece. Chances are the next bouquet will arrive in a vase on a very high shelf, and he will watch it from below with great interest.
