The Bulldog Took the Bun and Looked Surprised About It
Round, startled eyes stare straight at the viewer above a hot dog bun clamped in the jowls of a brindle and white Bulldog. His wrinkles are bunched up and his one folded ear flops sideways. He stands on a gray rug with a lamp glowing warmly behind him and a rope toy at his feet. He is not going to give up the prize without a discussion.
Bulldogs are calm, loyal dogs with a gentle, sometimes stubborn streak. They love lounging on the couch, but they also enjoy short bursts of play. Because of their short faces, they can overheat and have trouble breathing, so they need cool places and moderate exercise, and your vet can help with weight and care. Buns and bread are generally fine in small amounts, though hot dogs are salty and processed, and sausage often contains seasonings that are not good for dogs.
Bulldogs tend to gain weight easily, so treats should be small and meals measured. Keeping food on the counter and out of reach helps avoid taste tests. Bulldogs also have a famous talent for looking wronged, and this one has it down to a fine art.
His eyes are saying that this was not his idea, but the bun is firmly in his mouth. The picnic can carry on without bread, and he has no complaints. If it helps, the bun looks as though it has been through a lot, and a nap seems very much in order for both of them.
