A Norwegian Forest Cat Wears the Torn Curtain Like a Royal Cloak
Draped in a torn, fraying curtain like a monarch in a ragged cloak, a brown tabby Norwegian Forest Cat sits on the living room floor with a tiny smile. Tufted ears stand tall, a thick ruff frames the face, and the golden-green eyes look entirely satisfied. Loose threads dangle from the fabric. A couch, a basket, and a pair of plants fill the soft light behind.
Norwegian Forest Cats are big, sturdy cats from a cold climate, with long, water-resistant coats and strong climbing skills. They are famous for being friendly and playful, and they love to climb, so curtains can look like a perfect tree. A tall cat tree beside a window gives them the same view with none of the damage. Regular brushing helps keep that thick coat in good condition, especially during shedding season. Frayed fabric threads can be dangerous if swallowed, so if your cat chews curtains regularly, talk to your vet and keep an eye out for any changes in appetite or behavior.
The curtain rod may need to be reinstalled, and the curtains may need to be retired. Still, the cat looks like a woodland king with a new cape, and there is nothing a human can say to that sort of confidence. Somewhere in the house there is surely a cat tree waiting, much safer than the window, and the cat will look at it with great suspicion.
