A Fluffy Ginger Cat Is Stuck in the Blinds and Staring Out the Window
The blinds have gone wrong in the most dramatic way. Slats are bent, cords loop across his chest and shoulders, and tufts of orange fur poke through the gaps as a fluffy ginger cat stares calmly out the window. His profile is serene, his ears are relaxed, and his whiskers are pointed toward whatever bird or squirrel started all this. A plant on the sill, a few dry leaves, and a knitted throw wait beside him in the pale daylight.
Cats love windows. A window is a television that never stops, with birds, bugs, leaves, and the occasional neighbor going by. Many cats will push their way between blind slats for a better view. Unfortunately, blind cords are a serious danger for pets and children because they can form loops that catch around a neck or limb. If your cat tangles, stay calm, hold him gently, and unwind the cord rather than pulling. Tie cords up out of reach or choose cordless blinds, and consider a window perch with a cushion so he has a safe, comfortable spot for bird watching. A bird feeder outside the window can keep him entertained for hours. If he seems hurt after a tangle, talk to your vet.
For now, he looks completely unbothered, gazing outside like a sea captain at the helm. Somebody will need to bring a pair of patient hands to set him free.
