The Bookshelf Tipped, and a Blue-Eyed Ragdoll Sat on the Whole Library
Paperbacks lie open and scattered across the carpet in every direction, and a bookshelf leans sideways behind them. Perched on top of the pile, a fluffy blue point Ragdoll gazes upward with big pale blue eyes and a guilty, thoughtful expression. One front paw rests on a stack of books as if she were guarding the library, and a gray sofa sits quietly in the corner of the room.
Ragdolls are large, plush cats with silky coats and sky-blue eyes, and they are famous for being gentle and relaxed. Even so, a full-grown Ragdoll can weigh a good amount, and climbing on a shelf can bring it down. Tall furniture should be anchored to the wall with straps or brackets, which protects both pets and people. Cats naturally seek high places because they feel safe and can survey the room, so a cat tree or a wall-mounted shelf offers a better perch. Put the heaviest books on the lowest shelves, and give her a comfortable spot near a window. If she is startled or hurt by a fall, check her gently and call your vet if she is limping or hiding.
She seems perfectly happy with her new reading nook. The books are everywhere, but she is clearly the most interesting thing in the room. Whoever shelves them again will have a fluffy supervisor, and a very long afternoon ahead.
