A Floury Beagle Leaves White Paw Prints Across the Kitchen Tile
A white dusting of flour covers the Beagle's nose, eyebrows, and ears, and his wide brown eyes peer right into the camera. Behind him, the counter is a mess of spilled flour, a floury bowl, spoons, and cutting boards, and little white paw prints dot the floor tiles beneath him. The kitchen was in the middle of a baking project, and the baker was clearly not the one wearing the dusting.
Beagles have one of the best noses in the dog world, which is why they are so good at following scent trails. That nose is also why a kitchen full of ingredients is irresistible. Plain flour is not generally toxic to dogs, but the other items on a baking counter can be: chocolate, raisins, macadamia nuts, raw dough, and sweeteners like xylitol are all dangerous. Raw yeast dough can expand in the stomach and is an emergency. Beagles are also known for their appetite, so keep food out of reach and close the kitchen door when you cook. Teach a go to your mat cue so he can wait nearby. If he eats raw dough or anything on that list, call your vet right away.
He wears his flour like a badge of honor, and it suits him. The counter will take a while to clean, but the paw prints are adorable.
