A Border Collie Waits in a Cloud of Feathers, Looking So Innocent
Feathers are floating through the air and settling on a very surprised Border Collie. He sits upright in the middle of a burst pillow, a few feathers caught in his red and white fur, a little pink thread trailing from his chest, and his big, soft brown eyes looking directly at the camera. The living room behind him is a cozy mess: a grey sofa, a laundry basket, a pair of slippers, and a table stacked with books, all quietly witnessing the pillow's last stand.
Border Collies are famous for being smart, athletic, and driven, and they were bred to herd sheep all day long. A dog like this needs a job. Without enough exercise and mental work, he may invent his own jobs, such as herding the cushions, shredding the pillows, or chasing everything that moves. Aim for daily vigorous exercise like running, fetch, or agility games, and add training sessions or puzzle toys to wear out his mind too. If a dog swallows stuffing or fabric, it can cause a blockage, so pick up the pieces carefully and call your vet if he is vomiting or acting off. A sturdy toy made for tugging gives him a safe thing to shake and tear.
He looks like he is waiting for the next task. Fortunately, the vacuum is on its way, and there is plenty of work to go around.
