The Teddy Bear Never Stood a Chance Against the Boston Terrier
The black and white Boston Terrier sits with ears pulled back and eyes slanted toward the camera, wearing a look that is half apology and half hope. Next to him sits what remains of a teddy bear, with its stuffing pulled out in soft white tufts across the carpet. The bear still has its little stitched nose, and the whole scene has the quiet drama of a toy that did not survive the afternoon.
Boston Terriers are friendly, lively little dogs with big expressive eyes, and they often get along well with families. Chewing and tearing soft toys is a natural play behavior, a bit like a mini hunting game. To keep it safe, check toys for loose eyes or seams, take away a toy once it starts falling apart, and swap it for something sturdy. Swallowed stuffing or plastic can block a dog's digestive system, so call your vet if you think any was eaten. Short play sessions with a tug toy can also satisfy that urge.
We will call him Oreo. He seems to know that something unfortunate happened to the bear, and he is staying close to the scene out of what looks like loyalty. His ears say he is very sorry, while his posture says he would like to move on to the next activity. The bear, of course, has nothing to add.
