A Shiba Inu Left Muddy Paw Prints All Over the White Bedspread
The black and tan Shiba Inu sits in the center of the bed, ears slightly back, wearing a polite, uncertain expression. Muddy paw prints cover the white comforter and pillows in loops and trails, as though she had paraded around the bed more than once. In the background, a nightstand with a lamp, a tangle of cables, and a pile of laundry add to the sense of an interrupted afternoon.
Shibas are famously clean, cat-like dogs that groom themselves and often prefer to keep their own space, and they also have a strong independent streak. Like any dog, they bring dirt in on their paws after a walk, and a wet or muddy day can make a mess. A small towel or a paw-wiping mat by the door, plus a washable blanket on the bed, can keep sheets clean. If your dog has been in an area with chemicals or fertilizers, wipe her paws well and call your vet if you are concerned.
The prints are lovely in their own way, a pattern of tiny footsteps stretching across the white sheets. She waits calmly, as if wondering what the fuss is about. Laundry day has arrived early, but she seems very comfortable in the middle of it, and she may stay there until somebody offers a better spot. Her curled tail rests on the pillow like a little question mark, still waiting for an answer.
