An Abyssinian Cat Found Herself Tangled in the Window Blinds
An Abyssinian cat named Cinnamon has become part of the window blinds. Her ruddy, warm coat glows in the light, and her ears are pulled back as she looks upward with a thoughtful, slightly embarrassed expression. White slats are bent around her body, and the thin cords form loops around her shoulders. A table below holds a pile of papers and a few small items, giving the scene a busy, lived-in feel.
Abyssinians are slender, athletic cats with a short, ticked coat and a famous curiosity. They love to climb, explore and investigate anything that moves. Many Abys are also very social and playful, and they like a high place to observe their home. A window perch with a view of birds and trees can keep an active cat entertained.
Window blinds and cords can be risky for cats because they can get tangled. It helps to tie cords up high or switch to cordless blinds, and to provide a safe perch near the window instead. If your cat does get caught, stay calm and free her gently. Call your vet if she seems hurt. Interactive toys and climbing furniture are good ways to use all that energy.
Cinnamon stays still in her tangled spot, dignified despite the situation. Even stuck in the blinds, she manages to look like an elegant explorer.
