An Orange Cat Wanted a Better View. The Window Blinds Had Other Ideas.
An orange longhair cat has wedged herself between the slats of a window blind, and the strings are looped around her fluffy body like ribbons. Her amber eyes look straight ahead with a very guilty stare, and her paw rests on a bent slat. Sunlight pours through the gaps, and a basket of clothes sits behind her on the floor. She seems to be trying to look as if she planned this all along.
Cats love windows because they offer sunshine, birds, and a view of the neighborhood. Blinds, however, can be dangerous. Loose cords can tangle around a cat and cause serious injury, so it is safest to keep cords short and out of reach, or choose cordless blinds. Orange cats are often described as friendly and food loving, and most of them are boys. If your cat gets stuck or hurt, gently free her and call your vet. A cat tree or a wide window perch with a comfortable cushion gives her a safe place to watch the world without the risk of getting tangled.
She does not look afraid, just a bit embarrassed, and her fluffy tail swishes slowly. Some gentle help will have her free, and she will go right back to watching the birds. The blinds may need replacing, but the view was worth it.
