An Australian Shepherd Has Turned Himself Into a Blue Masterpiece
Blue paint covers him like a splatter painting. The blue merle Australian Shepherd sits with a happy little smile, his chest, face, and ears dotted with bright blue, while a tipped-over paint can spills a puddle across the floor behind him. His brown eyes are warm and unbothered.
The room beyond is half in progress, with a cardboard box, a roll of paper towels, a stuffed toy, a houseplant, and a pair of sneakers. Bright blue footprints and splashes mark the path from the can to where he sits. The blue even dots his whiskers, and one bright drip has landed on a nearby shoe as if to sign the work.
Australian Shepherds are bright, athletic herding dogs who love to be involved in whatever the family is doing, including home projects. A paint project can be hazardous to a pet, though, because wet paint and solvents can irritate skin and be harmful if swallowed or licked. Keep paint cans closed and out of reach, and keep pets out of rooms where you are working. If your dog gets paint on his coat, call your vet or a groomer before using any cleaner, since some products can be dangerous. Aussies thrive on exercise and training, so tire him out before a big project.
He seems delighted with his new look, wearing it with all the confidence of a modern artist. Blue is clearly his color.
