A Cavalier Spaniel Looks Away From the Plant He Knocked Over
Long silky ears frame the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel's face, and he gazes gently away from the camera with his dark, soulful eyes. A terracotta pot lies on its side next to him, with soil and a trailing green plant spilled across the wooden floor, and little bits of dirt are scattered like pebbles.
The room behind him is cozy, with a wicker basket of blankets, a pair of slippers and sneakers lined up near the wall, and a shelf with bags and books. The soft light makes his tricolor coat shine. A single leaf lies near his front paw, and the loose dirt looks as though it had been poured out with great care.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are gentle, affectionate dogs known for their love of people. They are usually friendly and happy to cuddle, but they are also spaniels, and they enjoy sniffing and exploring. Many houseplants are toxic to dogs, so find out which are safe in your home and place the dangerous ones out of reach. If your dog eats a plant, call your vet. This breed can have heart and health concerns, so regular vet visits are important. Provide daily walks and playtime, and keep him busy with toys and games so that he does not look for plants to investigate.
With that soft, thoughtful look, he seems almost sorry. The plant may need a new pot, but the dog has a perfect heart.
