The Pizza Is Gone, but the Border Collie Is Still in the Box
The pizza is long gone, but the red and white Border Collie is still sitting right in the box. She has settled into the cardboard like a throne, her white paws neatly placed and her amber eyes gazing upward with soft, innocent charm. Her ears are slightly out to the sides, and a long white blaze runs down her nose. The kitchen floor around her is clean and plain, with a water bowl in the background, a doormat, and just the edge of a gray sweatpants leg and a sneaker showing at the bottom of the frame.
Border Collies are widely seen as some of the smartest dogs, bred to herd sheep with intense focus and energy. A bright Border Collie needs real work to do, such as training, fetch, agility, or puzzle games, or she may invent her own hobbies, like raiding the kitchen. Pizza is not a healthy meal for dogs, since it can be salty and greasy and may contain onion or garlic, which are unsafe for them. Keep leftover food in a closed cabinet or in the refrigerator, and if your dog eats something questionable, call your vet.
What makes the scene special is how comfortable she looks. She is not hiding or running. She is simply sitting in the empty box, as though waiting for the next slice to be served. The look says that she did her best to leave nothing behind, and that she still hopes there might be another.
