A Tortoiseshell Cat Looks Up Beside the Jar With a Sticky Nose
With yellow-green eyes wide open and a nose decorated with sticky golden crumbs, the tortoiseshell cat looks straight up at you from the kitchen counter. Peanut butter clings to her whiskers and her chin, and the open jar next to her has a deep scoop taken out of the middle. A lid lies on the counter, and in the background a folded towel, a succulent in a clay pot, a woven mat, and a stack of cloths sit in warm sunlight. She seems to be waiting for someone to say something first.
Tortoiseshell cats are known for their bold black, orange, and brown patterns, and many owners describe them as having a lot of personality, sometimes called tortitude. Whether that is true or not, a curious cat in a kitchen can find many things to explore. Peanut butter is not recommended for cats, as it is sticky and hard to swallow, and some brands contain xylitol, which is very dangerous for pets. Always check the label and store jars closed and out of reach. If you think your cat ate a product with xylitol, call your vet right away.
Her face says she was caught, but her whiskers say she does not mind. She has the look of an animal that has just made a delicious discovery and is trying to work out how to share the news. A wipe of the nose and a closed lid will solve the problem, but the picture is much harder to forget.
