The Homework Was Finished. The Siamese Had Other Opinions.
A blue point Siamese sits on the wooden floor with her bright blue eyes turned to the side and her ears slightly back. In front of her paws lies a notebook with its blue cover chewed ragged, the edges torn and pale paper showing through. Behind her, a laundry basket overflows with clothes, a pair of slippers sits against the wall, and papers lie scattered about. Her cream coat and gray face look perfectly composed. We'll call her Luna, and she is acting like a very polite bystander.
Siamese cats are talkative, intelligent and social, and they often demand their people's attention. They can become bored without enough play, and some like to chew or scratch paper, cardboard and fabric. Offering puzzle toys, climbing spots and regular play with a wand toy gives a smart cat other things to do. Cats that chew non-food items sometimes need a check with the vet, since it can be a sign of stress or a medical issue. Keeping school supplies and important papers in a closed drawer is a simple way to avoid losing homework.
Luna, however, is staring off into the distance with great poise. Whatever happened to the notebook, she plans to deny it. The homework will have to be explained to the teacher somehow, and she's staying out of that conversation entirely.
