A Vase of Roses Fell. The Pomeranian Was Smiling Anyway.
A fluffy cream Pomeranian sits on the floor with her mouth open in a happy little grin, her black eyes bright and her pointed ears perked. Beside her, a blue and white vase has broken into pieces, and a bouquet of pink roses and green leaves lies across the floor, petals scattered everywhere. A lamp glows in the evening light behind her, and a couch with a knitted blanket and a basket sit quietly in the room. We'll call her Cotton, and she looks very proud of herself.
Pomeranians are small, fluffy dogs with big, confident personalities. They are alert, bright and sometimes a little loud, and they love to be the center of attention. Their double coat needs regular brushing, and as with any small breed, broken ceramics and glass can be dangerous for paws, so sweep carefully and keep your dog away from the area until it's clean. Roses themselves are not usually toxic to dogs, but thorns can be painful and many bouquets are treated with additives, so talk to your vet if your dog chews on flowers. A sturdy vase on a low table is an easy thing to knock over.
Cotton hasn't noticed any thorns. She's happy and wagging, and the whole room feels a little like a party that went sideways. The roses will go in a new vase on a higher shelf, and the Pomeranian will probably still get a cuddle.
