A Cereal Box Was Sitting on the Floor, and a Little Yorkie Climbed In
A tiny Yorkshire Terrier sits inside a big cardboard box, his front paws resting on the edge and his small head turned to the side with a serious look. His coat is a scruffy mix of steel blue and golden tan, with shaggy ears and a whiskery muzzle. The room behind him is a cozy mess, with a rope toy, a tennis ball, a pair of sneakers, a plant and a gray blanket all scattered about. Warm evening light spills across everything. We'll call him Pickles, and he's pretending not to see you.
Yorkshire Terriers are small dogs with a bold, confident personality, and they were originally bred to catch rats in mills. They are intelligent, loyal and energetic, and they are known for being brave far beyond their size. Their fine, silky hair needs regular brushing to prevent tangles. Like many dogs, they love to hide in boxes and small spaces because they feel safe and cozy. Cardboard is fine for a short stay, but check that your dog isn't chewing it up and swallowing the pieces. A soft blanket in a sturdy box makes a safe den for a small dog.
Pickles gazes into the distance like a captain on a ship. The box is his vessel, and the living room is his ocean. Whoever asked him to come out of there will have a long wait, and a very sweet conversation.
