The Great Dane Marquis Ducked Under Every Doorway With Grace
Steel-grey fur, long drooping ears and deep brown eyes give this blue Great Dane marquis a thoughtful, gentle presence. A magnificent white lace ruff encircles his neck, with a frilled cravat spilling down the front of a navy velvet coat embroidered with golden leaves and vines. The embroidery is so detailed you could trace each leaf with a finger. Behind him, the shadowy curtains and a faint stone column give a quiet, noble setting, and his enormous head seems to rest lightly on the delicate lace.
Great Danes are gentle giants, often calm and affectionate with their families. The blue coat is a steely grey color that is considered one of the breed's recognized shades. Because Danes are so big, they need sturdy beds, space to stretch and careful feeding, with a vet's advice on portions and routines. As puppies they grow fast, so gentle exercise and good nutrition help protect their joints. Many Danes enjoy a relaxed life and will happily lean on you for a cuddle, even if they weigh more than you do.
The marquis seems to carry his height with humility, and he would probably duck politely under every doorway. His lace is perfectly arranged, and his stare is kind. We imagine that the palace staff keep a very large cushion by the fire, just for him.
