The Boston Terrier Ambassador Carried the Scroll Without a Wiggle
With upright ears and big round eyes set in a black and white face, this Boston Terrier looks like a diplomat ready to deliver the news. He wears a dark blue velvet coat with gold leaf embroidery on the collar and cuffs, gold epaulettes, a wide blue silk sash with a starry medal and a crisp white cravat. In his white paws he holds a rolled paper scroll sealed with red wax. The dark room behind him, with a green curtain and a sliver of red, gives the portrait a grave and important feeling. Every fold in his velvet sleeve and every glint on the gold thread has been painted with care, giving the portrait a deep, heavy richness.
Boston Terriers are friendly, bright and often funny companions. They are small but sturdy, and they like being near their people. Their short noses mean they can overheat and wheeze in warm weather, so moderate walks and cool spaces are best. Their eyes are large and a little exposed, so it is wise to keep them safe from scratches and talk to a vet about any irritation. Many Bostons love learning tricks, and short training games are a fun way to keep them busy.
The ambassador looks calm and proud, as though the fate of the kingdom rests on this one scroll. We think it probably contains an invitation to dinner. He will deliver it with full ceremony, and with a very serious wag.
