The Court Musician Tucked His Violin and Waited for Silence
Round amber eyes and tiny folded ears give this gray cat a soft, sweet expression. A wide white lace ruff frames the round face, and a navy velvet coat with gold braid and lace cuffs completes the outfit. One chubby paw holds the neck of a polished wooden violin, and a lit candle flickers in the corner behind him, casting a warm glow on the shadowy room. The dark cloak draped over his shoulder adds drama, and the musician looks as though he is about to play something very tender.
The Scottish Fold's folded ears come from a gene that affects cartilage, and the same gene can cause painful joint problems in some cats. Many veterinarians and breed experts are concerned about it, so talk to your vet and a responsible rescue or breeder before choosing a Fold. Scottish Shorthairs with straight ears are a healthy alternative with the same round look. Folds are usually gentle and quiet, and they enjoy company. They need regular checkups, a healthy weight, and a comfortable place to rest, such as a soft bed near a sunny window.
The concert will begin soon. First there will be a long, thoughtful pause, then a dramatic stretch of the paws, and then perhaps a short nap. Great artists cannot be rushed, and this one has all evening, a warm candle, and an audience of velvet curtains.
