The Little King Took His Throne and Immediately Wanted a Snack
The king sits proudly on a carved wooden throne, his small paws resting on its lion-headed arms. A gold crown rests on his head between long, wavy brown ears, and a red velvet robe with a spotted white ermine collar drapes over a red cushion. His coat is white with brown and tan markings, and a big, round, trusting gaze looks out from under dark brows. A candle shines far off in the background, and it picks out the gold embroidery on his robe.
Parti-color is the term for a coat with two or more colors, usually white with patches of another shade. Cocker Spaniels in this pattern are as sweet and merry as any other, since coat color does not change temperament. The breed is known for a happy, tail-wagging personality and a strong desire to be close to people. They do need regular grooming for those silky ears and feathers, and trimming around the paws helps keep mud and burrs from sticking. Cockers thrive on moderate exercise, a calm routine and gentle training with plenty of praise. Because their ears hang low, regular ear checks are useful, and your vet can show you how to clean them safely.
A king like this rules entirely by cuddles. His laws are simple: more belly rubs, and shorter baths. Anyone who approaches the throne with a cookie in hand will be granted an audience, a wag and possibly half the kingdom.
