The Samoyed Countess Loved Her Gown and Gave Everyone a Smile

AI imagesamoyedcountessblue satin

A fluffy white Samoyed fills the frame with her cloud of fur, and she looks out with dark eyes and the famous upturned smile. The countess wears a gown of shimmering blue satin with gold brocade, puffed sleeves with slashes of cream and long strands of pearls draped across her chest. Two candles glow behind her, and their light makes her coat look almost luminous against the dark background. She looks pleased to be dressed up, and her whole face says that the portrait is a lovely idea.

Samoyeds were bred to herd reindeer and pull sleds in Siberia, and their thick, bright coat is built for the cold. It is actually a double coat, with a fluffy undercoat beneath long guard hairs, and it sheds heavily once or twice a year. Regular brushing, several times a week and daily during shedding, keeps it healthy and reduces hair on furniture. Never shave a double coat, as it protects against both heat and cold, and a vet or groomer can advise on safe trimming. Samoyeds love to be part of a family and can be talkative. They need daily exercise, but must be kept cool in hot weather, with shade and water always available.

The countess shares everything with her guests, including the fluff. It may come home on your sweater.
