The Devon Rex King Wore Red Velvet and Heard Everything in the Kingdom
Large ears, large eyes, and a small gold crown: the king of the valley is a black Devon Rex. His huge, bat-like ears reach up on either side of a slim face, and his round golden eyes watch the viewer with bright interest. A red velvet robe, stitched with gold flowers, falls over his shoulders under a thick ermine cape, and a jeweled pendant hangs at his throat. One dark paw rests on a carved stone armrest topped with a lion, while hills, a river, and a far-off castle glow in the background.
Devon Rex cats are known for their short, soft, wavy coat, large ears, and playful, people-loving nature. They are often described as pixie-like, clingy in a good way, and eager to perch on shoulders or laps. Their thin coat means they can get cold easily, so a warm blanket or heated pet bed is helpful. They also can have oily skin and sensitive ears that need gentle care. Since they love interaction, daily play and company are key, and your vet can advise on skin, ear, and diet care.
The painter has made good use of dark fur against the pale landscape, and the red robe brings a rich splash of color. The king looks curious and quite pleased with his domain. A ruler so alert will never miss a single rustle in the grass, and certainly not the sound of the treat bag.
