The Court Painter Paused Mid-Stroke With Blue Paint on His Brush
Brush in paw, the court painter has paused in the middle of a masterpiece. A cinnamon Abyssinian cat looks out with watchful green-gold eyes, his large ears upright, a black beret with a feather resting at a jaunty angle on his head. A dark velvet doublet with a stiff white collar and lace cuffs completes his outfit, and in one paw he holds a big wooden palette dotted with blue, orange, red, and white paint, with a brush in the other. A candle burns, and more brushes stand in a jar behind him.
Abyssinians are curious, active, and clever cats, famous for their ticked coat and love of exploring. They like to climb, investigate, and keep busy, so tall cat trees, puzzle feeders, and daily play are important. A creative cat will sometimes make a mess with paint or ink, so keep art supplies out of reach, because many paints and solvents are unsafe for pets. If your cat ever licks or walks through something questionable, call your vet.
The palette is the most colorful part of an otherwise dark painting, glowing with fresh paint. The Abyssinian is clearly fond of his craft, and he has the slightly distracted look of an artist halfway through an idea. He may paint with the same enthusiasm he brings to chasing a feather toy, which is to say, with great energy.
