The Lord Studied His Globe by Candlelight and Chose a Destination
Pale green eyes, a cloud of white fur, and a fur-collared blue velvet coat make this Norwegian Forest Cat look like a nobleman who has studied the whole world. One white paw rests on a wooden stand next to an antique globe, and a single candle flickers in the shadowy corner at the left. The coat is stitched with swirling gold, and a lace collar frames his fluffy chest. The mood is quiet, as though he has been reading maps by candlelight.
The candle is a lovely touch of baroque storytelling. It gives the painter an excuse for warm, golden pools of light against the cool blue of the coat and the stormy dark curtain behind him.
White cats with blue or green eyes are beautiful, and a quick note for owners: some white cats, especially those with blue eyes, can be born deaf, so ask your vet if you have any concerns. Norwegian Forest Cats are strong, long-haired cats who love to climb, and their coats need combing to avoid tangles. Light-colored cats can also sunburn on their ears and noses if they spend a lot of time by sunny windows, so shade and vet advice help. They are usually gentle, curious companions.
If he ever gets bored of the globe, he can always spin it with one paw and see where it lands.
