The Exotic Shorthair Lady in Waiting Had a Fan and Round Copper Eyes

AI imageexotic shorthairtudor portraitlady in waiting

Big round copper eyes in a flat orange face give this Exotic Shorthair the look of a teddy bear that is slightly suspicious. A black hood edged in white frames the cheeks, and a red velvet gown with gold buttons and embroidery fills the lower half of the portrait. In one paw, a folded paper fan with a delicate pattern is held at an angle. The background is a dim gold damask. Lady Saffron has the air of an expert at court gossip, who also happens to be extremely good at looking calm.

Exotic Shorthairs are often described as the short-haired cousin of the Persian, with the same round face, sweet nature and calm temperament, but a coat that is much easier to care for. Weekly brushing is usually enough. Their flat faces may lead to tear staining and sometimes breathing trouble, so wipe the face gently and see your vet if you notice noisy breathing. They enjoy gentle play and cuddles and generally prefer a quiet home. Keep them at a healthy weight with measured meals and a few play sessions a day, and give them a soft spot to rest near family activity.

A fan is the right tool for sending secret signals across a crowded room, whether it is a nod, a flutter or a hidden eye roll. This cat, though, only really needs her eyes, which say everything.
