Four Puppies Sat in a Perfect Row on the Back Step, Waiting for Something

Four glossy little faces sit in a perfect row on the weathered wooden step, every one of them looking straight ahead. These black and tan Dachshund puppies have matching copper eyebrow dots, tan muzzles, and oversized paws planted neatly in front of them. The pup on the far right sits a little higher than the rest, as though it's the self-appointed leader. Dachshunds are bright, alert dogs with a strong watchdog streak. Steps and stairs are another thing to think about with this breed. Short legs and long backs make frequent stair climbing hard on the spine, so many owners carry their Dachshunds or use ramps whenever possible, especially when the dogs are young or getting older.

These four seem to be waiting for something important, perhaps a treat, a walk, or simply someone to open the door. Whatever it is, they're clearly ready for it together.
