Two Tricolor Basset Pups Claimed the Laundry Basket for a Cuddle
Black, white and tan fur spills over the rim of a wicker laundry basket, where two tricolor Basset Hound puppies are snuggled on a heap of denim and gray cloth. The pup on the left rests his chin on his brother's back and looks out with big dark eyes, his tan eyebrows lifted. The other pup, also draped over the soft pile, looks sideways with a calm, thoughtful face, and a plant and a pair of slippers sit blurred behind them.
Tricolor is a classic Basset pattern, usually with a black saddle, white feet and chest, and warm tan markings on the face and legs. Bassets are pack dogs by history, which is why puppies like these seem to love sleeping in a pile. Companionship matters to the breed: they can be unhappy when left alone for long periods and may express it by howling, which is a trait of scent hounds. Plenty of company, gentle walks and short training sessions with treats keep a Basset puppy content. They can be stubborn, so patience is useful. If you let a puppy sleep in a laundry basket, check that nothing small, like buttons or loose socks, is within chewing distance, and call your vet if a puppy swallows something.
The laundry will have to be sorted later. At the moment the basket is serving a much more important purpose.
