Three Tricolor Basset Puppies Crashed on a Basket of Fresh Towels
Gray and white towels are heaped in a basket, and three tricolor Basset Hound puppies sleep on top of them. Their glossy black backs, tan faces and white paws are tangled together, and their wrinkled brows look peaceful. Wisps of ears hang over the towel edges, and warm light comes through the window beside the basket.
Towels make surprisingly good puppy beds. They are soft, washable and warm, and they hold the scent of home. Basset puppies spend a lot of time sleeping, and a heap of siblings keeps them cozy. If you let your puppy use towels as bedding, wash them often and check for loose threads, since terry cloth can unravel and be swallowed. Bassets have heavy bodies, so a firm base under the towels helps support their joints, especially as they grow. Their wrinkled faces and droopy ears can harbor moisture, so wipe gently and ask your vet about proper cleaning. Basset litters are usually good at sharing, and they tend to be gentle with each other, which makes the pile feel peaceful. Make sure the room is not too warm, and give plenty of fresh water when they wake up.
For now, nobody is waking up. The towels are warm, the house is quiet, and that is exactly how they like it. Warm towels, soft snores and a cozy basket make a nap that no alarm clock would dare to interrupt.
