A Black Lab Puppy Made a Warm Bed Out of the Clean Laundry
Stretched across a pile of clean clothes, a black Labrador Retriever puppy has made a laundry basket his own. His front paws hang over the edge of the plastic, his ears are slightly damp and fluffy, and his eyes look straight ahead with calm confidence. The wooden floor, a wicker basket and a pair of shoes with a blue strap fill the room behind him.
Labs love to be where the family is, and a basket of warm clothes smells like their people. That's one reason puppies climb into laundry. It's cute, but fabrics need care. Puppies chew socks, buttons and loose threads, and swallowed items can cause serious problems. Keep laundry in covered baskets or on shelves, and never leave small items on the floor. Offer a puppy bed with a worn T-shirt inside, so that it smells like home. Labs are intelligent, and they enjoy learning "leave it" and "drop it," which help in situations like these. Positive training with treats works best. Exercise matters too: tired puppies are less likely to get into trouble. Ask your vet about the best routine for your puppy's age.
This pup seems quite comfortable. The clothes might need washing again, but it is hard to be upset with a face like that. He blinks slowly, wriggles a little deeper into the pile, and settles with a satisfied sigh.
