Two Puppies Claimed the Warmest Floorboards in the Farmhouse Kitchen

AI imagechocolate havanesepuppieskitchen floor

On the wide, worn boards of a farmhouse kitchen floor, two chocolate puppies lie side by side with chins flat and eyes soft. Their curly coats look like dark velvet against the warm wood, and the open door beyond them shows a sunny garden with pots of herbs. The air seems slow and warm, and the puppies appear to have nothing to do.

Kitchen floors are a favorite spot for dogs, since that is where the people and the smells are. Many puppies like to lie near the action and watch the family, and that closeness is part of how they bond. A hard floor can be cold or tiring for small joints, so a rug or bed in the corner gives them a gentler place to rest.

Kitchens also hold hazards. Dropped food, especially chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, and anything sweetened with xylitol, can be dangerous for dogs, so keep the floor clear and scraps out of reach. Hot pans and cleaning products also call for care. Ask your vet for a list of foods to avoid.

The Havanese is a great kitchen companion, cheerful and attentive but not pushy. These two have chosen a spot where they can see the door, and they look ready to greet anyone who comes in. For now, though, they are happy to lie low and listen to the house.
