Two Weimaraner Puppies Vanish Into the Tall Summer Grass

AI imageweimaranertall grasssummer

Tall summer grass reaches almost to the chins of two silver Weimaraner puppies sitting side by side. One looks straight ahead with a bright, curious face while the other glances off to the side with ears drooping forward. Behind them, a cluttered porch with baskets and an open door shows how close home still is.

Long grass is full of smells, which makes it irresistible to a young hunting breed. It also hides risks. Foxtail grass seeds can lodge in ears, paws, and noses, and ticks and fleas wait among the stems. After a romp in tall grass, check your puppy's coat, between the toes, and inside the ears. Ask your vet about flea and tick prevention that is right for your puppy's age.

Weimaraners are famous for their endurance and their noses, and they love to explore. Teaching a reliable recall, with a call-back cue and treats, is important in places where a pup can disappear into the grass. A long leash gives freedom while keeping everyone safe during practice.

These two are keeping close and watching. Whatever is on the other side of that grass, they are ready for it together. Out in the open air, with a friend at its side, every rustle in the grass seems like an invitation. Their noses twitch with each breeze, taking in smells that people cannot even imagine, and their tails are probably wagging out of sight below the stems.
