Two Bernese Puppies Climbed Into the Bicycle Basket Together
Two Bernese Mountain Dog puppies sit shoulder to shoulder in a big wicker bike basket, their fluffy chests white and their ears flopped. They gaze in slightly different directions, one with a calm, steady look and the other with a hint of mischief. A white towel hangs on a shelf behind, and the whole scene has a homey, sunlit feel.
Bernese Mountain Dogs are a large breed, and these two will soon outgrow any basket on a bicycle. Puppies grow fast, and big breeds in particular can gain a lot of weight in a few months. That means growth should be steady and not rushed, and a vet can help set up a feeding plan that keeps them lean, which is easier on their joints.
The breed was once used to pull small carts, so the idea of a vehicle with a Bernese on board is not completely strange. Today, many Bernese owners enjoy hiking and walking with their dogs. These dogs like moderate daily exercise and being with their families. Early training is helpful, since a full-grown Bernese can weigh as much as a person.
The two in the basket look happy to be exactly where they are. Perhaps they are ready for a trip, or perhaps they just like the view. Either way, the basket makes a fine seat, and nobody seems to mind the tight squeeze.
