Two Buff Puppies Found a Slipper and Neither Would Let Go

AI imagecocker spanielpuppiesslipper

Two golden-buff puppies have agreed on one prize: a worn blue-gray slipper. The one on the left holds it by the heel, eyes cast down, while the one on the right has his nose against the toe with a serious, innocent expression. Their ears flop in soft, wavy curls, and their small paws rest on the rug and floorboards. Behind them, a basket of blankets and a plant sit by the doorway.

Slippers are the classic puppy target. Chewing relieves sore gums during teething, which usually starts at around a few months old, and shoes smell strongly of their people. Scolding rarely helps. A better approach is to keep shoes out of reach and give pups plenty of safe chew toys, then praise them for choosing the right item. A frozen washcloth can also soothe gums, but always supervise.

Swallowed pieces of a slipper can block a puppy's digestive tract, so if you suspect your puppy swallowed fabric or foam, call your vet. Cocker Spaniels are smart and eager to please, so they usually learn quickly with patience, kind words, and treats. Rotating toys every few days keeps them feeling new. A short training session each day, using treats and plenty of praise, also helps channel all that chewing energy.

One slipper, two puppies, and a very polite sharing arrangement. Whoever owns the other one may be searching for a while.
